Description

In this lesson, students learns about posıtıve forms of "future sımple" (will/ be going to) through some activities. We will start with a ppt an then go on with a game.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of future sımple in the context of holiday plans

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of language used for talk about future plans in the context of a game called "what's in my mind?"

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

After a small talk,like asking how they feel or what day is it; I'm going to point the finger at the weekend and ask students about their weekend plans or summer plans to engage them.

Highlighting (1-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will show them a time line to make them understand what "future tense" means and with some "future time expressions " they will be exposed to target language.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

This stage will be a process guided by teacher. I will clarify the meaning of "will" and "be going to" with some exampes. The PPT is prepared to teach the meaning and the pronunciation of "will" and "be going to". At the end of the lesson,the students will have learned the form of these usages by themselves.

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students will see 2 questions on the screen and they will choose the right answer for each. After that,they will have a gap-fill handout.

Semi-controlled practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

The students will receive handouts to practice the new grammatical phenomena. They will make a choice between "will" and "be going to" according to the sentence

Free Practice (3-4 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this stage ,they will play a game called "what's in my mind?". They will pick a colorful piece of paper from a box and decide to use the correct helper verb. They will think about the uses of "future sımple" and try to make sentences.
