Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

"T asks students to discuss in breakout rooms about their favorite holiday and their favorite accomodation. “You are going to talk about your favorite holiday and your favourite accommodation IN BREAKOUT ROOMS. ” You have two minutes. Demo the task with a student Learners work in pairs in breakout rooms and discuss. T. Does an OCFB

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

"Individually students will read an email about booking a hotel room . First they have to answer some general questions in chat. Questions are the following: 1. “ What type of text is this?” 2. “Why is this person writing an email?” Answers 1. formal email or letter. 2. he is writing to book a hotel room. INSTRUCTIONS: T says, "Read the text and answer the questions in chat" You have two minutes. Then students have to do an intensive task they have to fill the gaps with the words in the box. Individually in 3 minutes. Link in chat box. Send answers in the chat. INSTRUCTIONS: T says, "Fill the gaps with the words in the box. You have three minutes, please send answers in chat." Useful Language (8-12 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for writing a letter

"Teacher will work on the MEANING by working on a jam board form related to the previous reading activity. Students have to PUT THE ORANGE STICKY NOTES AFTER THE BLUE STICKY NOTES TO MATCH WITH THE DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE LETTER. This is a jam board activity. T says " Put the orange sticky note after the blue sticky notes to match with different parts of the letter" "I' m going to put you in breakout room, please use the number of room that correspond to your breakout room. So breakout room 1 go to frame 1. You have 3 minutes" Demo the task When S finish T conducts OCFB and asks the following CCQs Do we start a letter with HI Madam? What do we write to say the purpose of writing? Do we say “I WOULD LIKE TO BOOK” to close the letter? Do we finish the letter with “Regards and NO NAME”? To write about the purpose of the letter can we say “I’m writing to …..” ? to book a room can we say “I want a room …..”? to conclude the letter can we say “Bye bye madam?

Productive Task(s) (14-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice writing

Students are going to write a formal letter to a hotel to book a double room. This is the task. You are planning visit Rome for one week. Use the following information to write an e-mail booking a room. HOTEL: Colosseum Hotel, Rome DATE: 7th August, for one week GUESTS: You and your partner ROOM: view of colosseum and breakfast in the room ASK ABOUT: Swimming pool T. reads the students the task and asks if there are any problems with language or thinks they don't understand. T says: You have to write a letter in 20 minutes, this is the task. The link is in the chat. In each page there is the name of a students, Please find your name and write in that page." T demo the task and ask "Where do you have to write? what do you have to write?" The writing will be delivered on a link in chat box. It's a google document and on each page I wrote the name of the student and I've put the task in each page.

Feedback and Error Correction (4-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Students are going to work in pairs to check their peer's writing. First I'm going to show the students the checklist and what they need to check. Then I'm going to copy this checklist on each page of the google document. T. says "In breakout rooms please check you partner's work. The checklist is in each page" You can write comments. you have 8 minutes" Demo the task especially where they have to write the error correction T conducts OCFB
