Main Aims

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask my students to think about the latest experiences they have had e.g. What did you do last year?

Exposure (3-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will ask my Ss to read a text and tell me what it is about e.g. Who is talking, what's the topic of the conversation, what's the relationship between the speakers.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will ask students to understand all examples of TL in the text

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

MEANING I will ask Ss some CCQs to SS to identify Meaning. 1. I have been to Canada twice. CCQ 1: When are these actions referring to? (Past) CCQ 2: Do you know when the action took place? (No) FORM I will ask my Ss to identify the different components in the structure. Subject +____________+_____________+ complement Ricardo's feedback Present to grammer fill in structure to Ss for them to fill in. 'They should be able to identify the auxilary have or has and the main verb past particle PRONOUNCIATION a. Sentence stress I will read the sentences out loud and ask the Ss to identify which words I am stressing. I will ask Ss to drill

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will ask Ss to order the sentences. (scrambled sentences) Ricardo's FB: scrambled sentences all words in teh wrong order. Ss need to rewrite in the right order. or (in both cases use 4 to 6 sentences I will ask my Ss to complete sentences using the correct form of the verb. (classic gap fill e.g auxillary verb in the right form form or hand out) I will ask Ss to compare answers.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask Ss to answer the following questions. 1. Have you ever made a huge mistake in life? (Have Ss come up with their own q's and ask them to eachother to practice the target language. DEC She have been to Europe twice. (wrong use of the auxiliary) (Write sentences on the board or in the chatbox)
