Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed practice in the context of Business

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of word related to business

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask my students to discuss the following two questions: 1. How often do you travel? 2. Do you like it very much? I will ask Ss to discuss these questions in pairs in their breakout rooms.

Pre-Reading/Listening (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will ask Ss to read the folllowing sentences and answer the questions that follow them: MEANING I RACED to the hospital. CCQ: DidI go to the hospital fast or slowly?/Did I have an emergency? 2. 3. FORM I will elicit the form from the SS Pronunciation: 1. I will model the words (I will say the words out loud asking the students to identify certain pronunucation features). 2. I will ask the Ss to identify the number of syllables and stress. 3. I will ask my students to drill. Note: It take 1 minute to 90 seconds to teach 1 word.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (6-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will ask Ss to read the text quickly and create a title for it. I will give my Ss 3 minutes only and this will be individual work. Ricardo's info: Lesson plan: Options read a text and create a title, read a text and choose a title, to organise a text and put it into the right order e.g. put 3 paragraphs, read a text and organise images of images (e.g. 5) for reading. Listening Listen to the conversation and tell me whats it about Who is involve in the conversation Waht is the relationship between the speakers Time Setting tasks, students during the tasks, students comparing asnwers and open class feedback.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I will ask Ss to read the text of 1 minute. They will read the text and then determine/decide if these are T/F I will ask my students to justify my answers. Ricardo's info : 1. Open questions (students need to read or listen to the text to determine specific info or detail. (suitable for intermediate). 2. Multiple choice questions (e.g 3 options). Easier for elementary Ss 3. True or false (Ask Ss to justify their answers e.g. ask them where they found the info in the text/What are the keywords for this. If false why? What does the text read?

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will ask my Ss to discuss these questions: 1. If you had money, where you you travel and why? Ricardo's advice: Normally speaking is preferred and considering the lesson is 45 mins its better to use speaking which is usually quicker
