Description

In this lesson ,SS will learn about films and movies based on a listening text about someone who is talking about his favorite one. He uses different adjectives and phrases to describe the movie ,the plot ,the setting and the actors .

Materials

Abc a video, a PowerPoint ,WS ,pictures

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson, SS will have listened to a person talking about his favorite movie

Subsidiary Aims

  • SS will be able to use different adjectives to describe their favorite movies and speak about them.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T plays a short video about a film and ask SS to answer 2 questions based on this video. T elicits their answers and provides feedback.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T teaches and revises the key words that SS need to understand the listening text tries to elicit the words from the SS and clarify the meaning using pictures ,definitions and examples uses CCQS to check understanding.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T sets the task and make sure SS understand it by asking ICQS: -Are you going to listen only? (No) - Are you going to take notes while listening?( Yes) Are you working individually or in groups? ( individually) .SS listen to the the conversation and try to answer the questions individually. Then, SS work in groups to check their answers .After they finish, T asks SS about their partners 's answers .T gives feedback when necessary.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T sets the task .T makes sure SS read the sentences before they listen. T asks SS to listen and try to take notes about the sentences individually while listening. T asks ICQs to check understanding: - What are you doing first? ( reading the sentences) -Are you taking notes while listening?( yes) After they finish listening, SS work in groups tp discuss and check their answers. After that , T gives feedback by discussing SS's answers.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T sets the task .T divides SS into group A and group B.T asks SS to choose a film they like watching it and talk about to persuade the other group to watch it .They should talk about the following points : - The name of the film - The actors -The plot - Why they like it T asks SS to take notes while discussing the film. T asks ICQs: Are you going into groups? Are you going to choose one film? Can you take notes about the film? Every student is going to say a sentence or two about the film to the other group. SS work in groups to talk about the film for 5 minutes .Then , T asks them to say their sentences to each other.
