Description

There are 23 students in the class and most of them were almost zero beginners when they started studying English 8 months ago. Baran is the only one whose level is away better than the others as he has studied at a very good high school. I know them in detail since I have been teaching them for almost 16 weeks.

  • To provide clarification of Infinitive and -ing form of the crime verbs.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will direct them to pages 104-105. I will tell student A to look at the photo on the left and student B to look at the photo on the right. I will them that they have a minute to look at the photo and share what they remember with each other. I will share the screenshot of the related pages.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

As soon as they come from the breakout rooms I will ask the question on activity A. What crimes are the most common in the world and send them to breakout rooms again with different partners. I will get whole class feedback from the volunteers when they come back from the breakout rooms.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

The students will be directed to activity B and be told to use their dictionary and they will have 7-8 minutes for the activity. When they complete the activity the answers will be checked as a whole class and The pronunciation of some words will be checked. ( kidnapping, vandalism, identity theft, bribery, counterfeiting, arson, and shoplifting )

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

The students will be told to complete the table on activity C. When they finish the activity the teacher will explain in detail.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The teacher will explain the questions and then direct them to the breakout rooms and visit the rooms to monitor them.
