  • To introduce and provide practice of writing a postcard (30-35 words)

Subsidiary Aims

  • Practise vocabulary and grammar

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I will show a picture to students, this image is the front part of a postcard; I will ask them what do they think this is, they brainstorm as a group and then I'll introduce the topic.

Exposure (7-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I will send students to groups and then they will answer a google form in which they need to identify the different parts of a post card and its appropriacy. Then I will bring them back and give them feedback as well as pointing out the correct parts of a postcard

Useful Language (7-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

In this stage I will provide students a few expressions that they might find useful to write the postcard and then they are going to select in pairs if they think the expressions are formal, informal or neutral. When they finish I will give feedback and explain about the expressions

Productive Task(s) (14-16 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

In this stage, stuents will write their own postcard for a friend, a family member or someone they would like to write, with the information I provided in the previous stages. If they finished before the time set, I will ask them to write another another card but to someone different.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Lastly, Ss will work in pairs and they are going to share their postcard to each other and they are going to give each other feedback by filling in a checkmark. At the end I will use one of the postcard they made as an example to give general feedback. After that I will give a little DEC.
