Description

In this lesson, students will learn about the difference between intentions and desires through guided discovery of a text: 'Are you a live wire or a couch potato?' The lesson will start with a discussion to introduce to the text, then students will read the text that exposes them to the target language and answer some questions, later the teacher will cover MFPA nominating students so they have an active role, after that students will answer some exercises, and finally they'll discuss some questions using target language.

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson strudents will be able to identify the difference between intentions and wishes in the context of future plans

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about intentions and wishes in the context of future plans

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1. T will share a google forms that include the reading *Ss will read and answer the two questions *T will say that each person will have six statements each *three minutes *Individual *Don't send the document ICQs: *Are you going to send the document? A: No *How many statements for each person? A: six *How much time do you have? A: four minutes 2. T will send Ss to BOR *Ss will have two minutes to compare answers 3. Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Today * 'Planning to' refers to something that is planned to be done I'm planning to buy a more comfortable sofa when I have enough money CCQs: Is his intention to buy a new sofa? A: Yes When is he planning to buy it?
