Description

This lesson has been made to practice the first, second and third conditional using "if" clauses comparing the past, the present and the future in the context of time travel

Materials

Abc My Time Machine

Main Aims

  • To provide practice and clarification of First, second and third conditional in the context of Time Travel
  • To provide product writing practice of a little story in the context of Time Travel
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of time travel

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about a little time travel story in the context of past, present and future traveling

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students into the topic

1.-Teacher shows a picture of a famous movie 2.-Teacher asks the students to brainstorm ideas of what the characters of the pictures would do 3.-Learners share their ideas with each other in open class feedback

Exposure (6-7 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words, phrases and the target language

1.-Teacher gives instructions to complete the activity and says the time limit for it 2.-Teacher send a link to the learners and put them into breakout rooms, before the learners star the teacher asks them an ICQ(will you pay attention to the capitalized words?) 3.-Students work together solving the activity, instructions: Read the text and choose the right option 4.-Once the students finish the teacher conducts the OCFB

Task (9-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1.- Teacher sets the activity, instructions: In breakout rooms write as a team a little story using the target language 2.- Students work together to practice their writing productive skill while giving peer support and encouraging each other 3.- Teacher lead the OCFB putting together all the students of the class

Language Analysis (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task and target language

1.-Teacher tells the students the instruction of a new activity: choose the right meaning of the sentences 2.- Teacher gives the students a link to start completing the activity in breakout rooms 3.- Learners work together to complete the activity 4.- Teacher presents the learners a differnt activity to clarify meaning 5.- The students solve the activity in open class all at once 6.- Teacher gives the students a link to an activity to check on the form of the target language, instructions: choose the right answer for the sentences 7.-students complete the form activity as teams 8.-Teacher show the students 3 sentences to work with pronunciation 9.-Teacher slect 3 different learners to drill the pronunciation and then the whole class chorally drill the traget language

Language Practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task and target language

1.-Teacher sets the las task, instructions: INDIVIDUALLY MAKE 3 SENTENCES USING THE 1°,2° & 3° CONDITIONALS, TALKING ABOUT WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHANGE IF YOU COULD TRAVEL IN TIME 2.- Students work alone making thei own sentences during a time of 3 minutes 3.- Teacher divide the students into breack out rooms for the speaking productive skill 4.- the Learners share their work with each other and stablish a conversation using the target language 5.- Teacher conducts the las OCFB & DEC
