Description

This is a grammar lesson whose intention is to provide Ss with opportunities to develop their skills using functional language with an authentic text.

Materials

Abc Hugh Dellar and Andrew Walkley.

Main Aims

  • To provide exposure to functional language to express opinions and surprise.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification in the context of lexis and grammar.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Instructions: The teacher starts the lesson by showing in Google slides some questions. Do you like music? Don’t you like music? What difference do you think there is between these two questions? Ss will discuss those questions in BOR for three minutes. Then T will lead the Ss to listen to the audio.

Text work (8-9 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Instructions: Ss will listen to the audio for gist; then the teacher will guide the Ss to use negative questions; ss will complete some questions in Google Form.

Language clarification (10-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T will elict from Ss: Meaning: The teacher will elicit from ss meaning according to examples in Slides. Form: While showing examples in the slide, elicit ideas of Form from Ss. Pronunciation: While the teacher shows the words elicit from Ss the stress, linking, intonation to clarify. Then drill from the whole class.

Control practice (8-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Ss will go to Jamboard to make a roleplay using the functions.

Free practice (8-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss will go to Wordwall to practice some exercises.

Feedback and DEC (5-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

The teacher will conduct OCFB, then DEC correcting inaccurate language.
