Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and contrast between the present perfect simple and the present perfect continious

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about conversation video in which they use both tenses to contrast them


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

For the lead-in stage, I will show my students some pictures about Dubai and I will ask some questions in the present perfect simple and present perfect continuous.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

For my exposure or gist task stage I will play a video on YouTube about a girl that has to do an interview with someone for her lesson. at the beginning of the video they use present perfect continuous then, there is one of the girl's mother that is visiting Dubai and she is video calling her daughter telling her about her personal experience using present perfect simple.
