Description

This lesson is on the Present Perfect Simple with 'ever' and 'never' in the context of life's experiences.The students identify different interesting life experiences and have a conversation on whether they've done them. This is followed by the introduction of the TL, a gist task, clarification of the TL with MFPA. The Ss then do a controlled practice activity of the TL. In pairs, Ss do a freer practice with the TL asking questions, giving answers and making statements. T then conducts OCFB and DEC

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and activate Ss previous knowledge on the topic

Presentation through text (Text work) (6-8 minutes) • To provide a model of the TL and set the context for Ss to understand and use the present perfect

Clarification (8-8 minutes) • To provide clarification on MFPA for the target language

-T informs Ss that the next activity is for us to understand the meaning, form, pronunciation and appropriacy of the TL -T shares zoom whiteboard, copies and pastes/types a statement and a question from the audio text -T CCQs the Ss on the meaning: Are the sentences referring to the past or the future? Past Is there any specific time in the past for the action? No Is the period from the time you were born till now? Yes -T illustrates the TL on a timeline for further clarification. -T writes two statements and questions on the WB and illustrates form -T writes one last statement (I have never travelled by helicopter) and clarifies pronunciation. -T states that all the statements and questions used in the illustrations are NEUTRAL however emphasises the fact that short Yes/No answers should be complete in formal situations. -

Controlled practice (8-8 minutes) • To provide controlled practice of the present perfect tense with 'ever' and 'never'

Freer Practice (8-8 minutes) • To allow students Ss to use the TL in freer practice

Feedback/Delayed Error Correction (6-8 minutes) • To provide Ss with feedback on the completion of the tasks in the TL

-T writes some examples of language employed by Ss during the practice -T elicits correct/wrong sentences/questions from the Ss. -T nominates Ss to correct the wrong sentences and gets approval from peers -T clarifies Ss on pronunciation errors during practice -T closes session and encourages Ss to keep practicing the TL
