Description

This is a speaking lesson whose intention is to provide Ss with opportunities to develop their skills interacting with an authentic text.

Materials

Abc Upper Intermediate book - Student's book.

Main Aims

  • To provide speaking practice on the context, using expressions of Certainty when speaking about the future.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of language with expression of Certainty.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Instructions: The teacher starts the lesson by showing in Google slides two questions. Ss will discuss those questions in BOR for three minutes. Then T will lead the Ss to the next activity in Google Jamboard for 2 minutes.

Content preparation (6-6 minutes) • To prepare Ss for the content of the following task.

Instructions: The teacher will guide the Ss to use expressions of Certainty when speaking about the future.

Language preparation. (6-6 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Meaning: The teacher will give examples of Levels of certainty in Google Slides. Form: While showing examples in the slide, elicit ideas from Ss. Pronunciation: While the teacher shows the words elicit from Ss the stress, clarify. Then drill from the whole class.

Speaking Task 1 (10-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Instructions: The teacher gives details of the activity to work and discuss in groups. Roleplay: Student A has a job as Journalist Student B is finding a job.

Speaking Task 2. (10-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Instructions: The teacher gives details of the activity to work and discuss in groups. Roleplay: Both students will talk about their real-life using levels of certainty in future.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

The teacher will conduct OCFB, then DEC correcting inaccurate language.
