Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation

Subsidiary Aims

  • Students will have learned a few phrases to give advices or recommendation and practice their speaking fluently in a post task discussion.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To engage students and contextualize the lesson

T- projects a slide and have students guess what's happening in the picture. Suppose the men in the pictures were their friends, what would you say to them? any advice? any comment? ICQ: In breakout room, can you discuss with your partners within 2 mins?

Content Preparation (2-3 minutes) • To prepare students regarding the content fo the task

T- shares the link of google slide and have them create their own conversation script. They can either work on a slide or a piece of paper

Language Preparation (5-6 minutes) • To prepare Students regarding the language needs for the task and highlight and clarify useful expression for productive tasks

T- shares a slide or white board and students will write down phrases to give some advice.. They will work individually for 2 mins and elicit some expressions. Example: How about..taking a vacation? What about..taking a vacation? Why don't you take a vacation? I recommend taking a vacation. You should take a vacation. If I were you, I would take a vacation. etc.. Make sure to check on.... Form ⇨highlight making verb-ing or simple verb? Pronunciation ⇨Whatabout... Howabout...intonation of sentences

Productive Task(s) Speaking (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice speaking focusing on fluency

1.T sends a link to a chat box. Students will work in pairs or group. One student will read a card and another students will give some suggestions or recommendations. T shows an example with students. T-sends students to breakout room. (6 mins) 2. T sends a different link in a chat box and student will talk about their personal problems or complains. other students will give suggestions or recommendations to their peers. (6mins) 3. T recreates breakout rooms so students can have different partners to talk to. They will do the same activity(6 mins)

Feedback and Error Correction (5-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production for both content and language

T uses a white board and list a few sentences. Have students to think of another expression to make them better.
