Description

In this lesson, student are going to learn about nouns and quantifiers, Through the text mentioned as an example of how to use different kind of nouns and quantifiers. The reading is about "Who Really Discovered America". after discussing the text we will work on grammar.

Main Aims

  • To clarify and provide more information about nouns and quantifiers in the reading (Who Really Discover America)

  • To provide time for practicing and making sentences about the related grammar

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At first we will get start with some question about history of America and we try to share some information, then I will play a video related to context, after that I will ask them to type a comment, if they have changed their minds about the subject after watching the video.

Exposure (10-13 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

After all the question about possible answer to the topic, student are more interested to discover the answer, I will play the reading audio file. When the audio file is finished, I will ask them to type their answer again in comment. I explain the text with new words, and I will ask one of the student to read on the text. After that I will give them time to work in peer and answer the question that I type on board so they will have more time to analyze the text. After working in groups and reading more carefully, I will type the answers on board.

Highlighting (3-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will ask them to find the sample sentences about the grammar(nouns and quantifiers), then one by one I will ask them to read the example that they find, and I will explain more about each type, then I will ask them to work in peer and find exact sample for each type.

Clarification (5-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

clarification will happen after group working and asking them some concept question to check their understanding. I can ask them to give me some example from their own, like: I use a lot of oil. I saw many sailors.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In this part they will answer the question in book, according to intended time they will spend time to find the answer, then they can check their answers with their friend and finally I will ask them for the answers. I will ask them to type the answers, I will correct the mistakes if there were any.
