Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Greeting: T: Hello guys, How are you doing ? Sarah, How was your weekend? Daniel, What did you do on your weekend? Did anybody take a trip on the weekend? T: In your pairs, answer these questions in 2 mins. The teacher creates 3 breakout rooms and let Ss talk. The teacher is monitoring different rooms. After 2 mins T: Ava , what did your partner say about the first question ? T: Ava choose one of your classmates. The teacher gets feedback like this. T: in your pairs skim the text and highlight new expressions. - Make guess about their meanings and do matching. - check your answers with answer key.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

The teacher shows some problems that people might face while traveling and she asks what would they do If they had these problems. In fact she asks them to use conditional type 2 indirectly. If they cannot understand the point, the teacher will show next slide and give them more clues. After this step we need some CCQs to make sure that They got the point. CCQs: 1. The teacher shows a highlighted sentence from the text and she asks : - What type of conditional is it ? type 2 - Can I say past continuous instead of past simple on conditional type 2 ? yes - Is there any change in meaning? yes T: How about this sentence ? It was unreal situation in present. T: Now how can I express unreal situation in past ? look at this slide (10) CCQs: 1. Is it real or unreal ? 2. is this in past or present ? Can you guess what is the form of Past unreal conditional ? - Can i make first clause continuous ? yes - How about the second clause ?

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language

Controlled practices T: choose the sentence that best explains the meaning of each quotation. Do it individually in 2 mins. ICQs: 1. How many quotations do you have ? 2 2. How many options do you have for each quotation ? 3 3. are you going to choose the best option or the worst one ? the best 4. Individually or in pairs ? individually 5. How much time do you have ? 2 mins T: Share your answers with your partner/ tell them to the class. T: circle the correct option from brackets. (slide 13) T: Compare your answers with your partners. T: Complete these clauses with present or past unreal conditional forms individually. After some minutes T: in your pairs, read 3 clauses that you have written, and your partner should guess, what is the most suitable clause for each of them, from the list. ICQs: 1.
