Description

In this lesson, students learn about present simple and frequency adverbs through TTT. This lesson starts with a test to check the student's awareness on the topic. This is followed by presentation of the topic through which is dependant on the results of the initial test. Finally there is some controlled practice through gapfill exercises and free practice via a final speaking activity.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T asks the Ss to look at the pictures with representatives of different professions and answer some questions: - What tasks does a teacher usually fulfil? - What problems does a pilot often deal with? - Does a cashier sometimes work under pressure? Why? - Can you tell me what tasks do you do on a regular basis?

Test #1 (4-5 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Gustav Olaffson works as a geologist in the North Sea. What do you think his job involves? Complete the article with the correct form of the verbs in brackets and check your ideas about the story content. (p.103)

Teach (8-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T guides the Ss to deduce the rules of usage of the TL (Present Simple, frequency adverbs and indirect questions) bearing in mind the results of the previous stage (ex. 1, 2, 5)

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T creates the opportunity for the Ss to use the TL in controlled practice Complete the article below with the correct form of the verbs in brackets. (p. 103) Put the words in the correct order to make sentences (optional) (p. 103)

Free practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
