To provide fluency speaking practice in a open class discussion in the context of literary text
Procedure (24-48 minutes)
Having read the story at home, the ss will decide on the best book cover or poster for the story from a collection posted on the board. Each student votes on a cover and their rationale for it, discusses wih their pair then WCFB.
T asks one or two students to quickly summarize the story for the class. T gives feedback.
Ss are given a worksheet of Qs in pairs. They take 5 mins to do the 1st Q in pairs, Then WCFB (5 mins). Ss then do the 2nd Q for 10 mins in pairs, then WCFB. Then ss do Q 3 in 4 mins then WCFB then the last Q for 2 mins then WCFB.
T asks ss what they think of the style of the author and the story itself. Then ss discuss in open class feedback an alternative ending to the story. T gives content and language feedback.
