Description

The students in this upper- intermediate class are a mix of Mexican males and females. They use Spanish as their first language. About half the class are very engaged when eliciting answers from them while the other half being more reserved, most likely due to having a more restrictive vocabulary and lack of speaking confidence

Main Aims

  • • Learners will have also analyzed and identified the futrue perfect and future continuous tense and correct use of it

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will share my screen and show students using google slides an advert from ITV. In the big group, I will elicit a few ideas from learners on what they think the image would be about. Then I will conduct OCFB and write learners’ ideas on my last google slide.

Exposure (8-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will share my screen once again and share a text with some TL. then I will ask them to read the text individually, before sending them in groups of twos or threes to give peer feedback on their understanding of the text. Finally, I will conduct OCFB.

Highlighting (2-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I share my screen again and share my google slide and ask them a question, what are the verb tenses of the highlighted words? Within 2 mins I will elicit some answers from the students

Clarification (8-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

To clarify my MFP. I will share my google slide link where I will share two sentence structures from the text with the target language in use. to clarify meaning I will run two CCQs. Finally using the sentences created by students I will elicit sentence stresses.

Controlled Practice (10-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Here I will share my screen and use google forms to give students an activity to use the target language.

Free Practice (12-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

After the students have answered the task, I will give them another task of coming up with their own plans and sharing them with their peers.
