In this lesson I will provide students with some functional language expressions in the context of holidays through guided discovery of meaning, form, pronunciation and appropriacy, then have them practice the functional language through controlled and free practice activities.

Main Aims

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

for the lead-in I will ask students to look at some pictures (see appendix 1) and ask them to brainstorm about what they see in them. then i'll conduct feedback and collect all their ideas in order to introduce the topic.

text task (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students will read a short story for gist and they will be asked to organize events chronologically, they will do this activity in groups of 2 or 3 people and will come back to main room for feedback.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will ask students to underline the selected expressions in the text they read previously and find other ways of conveying the same meaning. this will make students think on the meaning for each expression, then T will conduct pronunciation by drilling expressions and ask studetns which words are linked when pronounced, finally T will elicit form from studetns.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T will ask students to complete a crossword puzzle(see appendix ) with the functional expressions previously analized. this will consolidate maening and use of the target functional language.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask studetns to perfom a role play (see appendix) with two different roles in the context of booking flights and hotel for a holiday. students will play a role and then switch, this will allow them to have fulency practice of the target funtional language.
