Description

In this lesson, the student will learn how to introduce himself by modeling few examples of other students presenting themselves in short videos and an audio script.

Materials

Abc QR Code example: A one minute or Less - introduction video
Abc QR Code Scanner and Reader

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Life

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of Student life in the shortest time possible

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher plays the video and asks the student to identify the context (what, who, how, why)

Exposure (6-7 minutes) • To say where you’re from and ask for and give personal information

After watching the video, ask the student the following questions and give him 5 minutes to draft his answers: - What's your name? - Where are you from? - What do you do for a living? - What are your hobbies in life? - Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Tell the S that he has used the same structure to introduce himself. Ask him now to repeat the questions by drawing a link between them in a minute or less.

Clarification (2-3 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

You should have taken few notes for delayed feedback to clarify few pronunciation tips.

Controlled Practice (3-4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ask the student to choose a nationality from the list and introduce himself as one of them. Check understanding and delayed error correction

Free Practice (Follow up) (1-2 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ask the student to record his own video. He will send it to me so that I share it on my page. If it's a good one, ask for permission to post it as a testimonial on my page. In this video, the student is going to share his feedback about the lesson and what he learned.
