Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

S looks at picture of work place. T asks S to answer questions related to picture. Questions: 1) What are the people doing in the photo? 2) What sort of company is it? 3)Would you like to work for a company like this?

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T gives students handout for lesson S listens to audio T asks students question related to audio with word bank. 5 minutes. Question: Listen and check which activities the employees mention?

Highlighting (4-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T asks students to listen again to audio. S listen and answer the second set of questions. 2 minutes Questions: 1) In recording 1 is the speaker picking a CD at that moment? Or is he going to pick a CD later today? a) Picking a CD at that moment. b) Going to pick a CD later that day. 2) In the recording, 2 is the female employee studying anything at the moment? Or is she going to study in the future? a) Studying at the moment. b) Studying in the future. 3) In recording 3 do employees usually show up at work at the same time every day? a) Yes, they have a work schedule from 9-5pm every day. b) No, they usually show up to work whenever they want. S get in pairs and discuss questions. 2 minutes T discusses with students in OCFB 2 minutes

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Meaning: 2 minutes T defines present simple and present continuous to students with examples. S then answers CCQ questions to understand the meaning of each. Form: 3 minutes T shows students the parts of speech for present simple vs continuous. S decides which sentences fit the correct target language. Pronunciation: 2 minutes T uses word stress to see if students can understand which word is stressed in the sentence. S decides which words are stressed in the sentence and repeats them altogether.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T gives S activity directions with example. S looks at documents and makes you questions using the target language solo. 3 minutes S get in breakout rooms to discuss sentences with each other. 3 minutes S discuss in OCFB. 2 minutes

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T asks S Free practice question and gives own example using target language. S get in breakout rooms and discuss questions. (3 minutes) T listens for DEC examples. S comes back to discuss in OCFB (3 minutes) T gives DEC (2 minutes)
