Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will share my screen and show students using google slides a collage of pictures with children. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1yMyfTJ-jyJm5RI7NNb5EexP64Hns5lggZbvVlUULy0Y/edit?usp=sharing In the big group, I will elicit a few ideas from learners on what they think the image would be about. Then I will conduct OCFB and write learners’ ideas on my last google slide.

Exposure/ Gist task (5-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will share my screen once again and share another collage of pictures with children and ask a gist question. "What 3 words in the list below best describes the situation in the pictures? Harmful, Dangerous, Hazardous. I will then ask students to be in pairs or threes to give peer feedback. Finally I will conduct OCFB.

Clarification - MFP (17-17 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

To clarify my MFP. I will share my google jam board link where I will ask students to match the MEANING of some listed words to their corresponding pictures. Students will do this task as individuals, then peer feedback before we do OCFB https://jamboard.google.com/d/1x8eDOaA77ibCXauKrpzpyM9RQhNEgFBgzcom-_g3eUU/edit?usp=sharing After the meaning feedback, I will share my google slides link to share a table with a FORM task for the students. "Add one of the SUFFIXES to the verbs and nouns below form nouns and adjectives?" Suffixes to be added are: - ion; -ment; -ful, -able, -less; -ive. students will do this task in pairs or three and then finally OCFB. Finally, I will again share the google slides and elicit from the students the syllables, position of the stress and the PRONUNCIATION of Harmful and Suitable. Harmful how many syllables - 2 Position of the Stress - harm PRONUNCIATION: hahrm-ful Suitable how many syllables - 3 Position of the Stress - Suit PRONUNCIATION: Soo-tuh-bull With the whole class, I will Model the words, then Elicit from the students before finally Drilling.

Controlled Practice (10-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will again share my google slides and give students a task to use suffixes in the following fill-in task. Do you have anything in your house that can be………… (harm) to children. Leaving knives in the open can be…………(danger), to children. Can you think of anything that is not ………..(suit), for children in your house. First aid training is always…………(use). Uncontrolled internet access can be……….. (hazard) to children. Some parents are…………(care) with their children’s safety. Children are harmed when parents are …………(care). We are talking about the………..(safe) of children. I will ask students to answers these questions individually, then in pairs or threes for peer checking through breakout rooms. I will share the slide once again after peer-review and then conduct OCFB.

Free Practice (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

during this section, I will ask students questions about safety and children and promote the practice of suffixes in words like harmful, dangerous useful, suitable, and hazardous.
