Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. Play Hangman, target word: interview 2. Direct SS to the photo at the top and ask them to discuss the questions in pairs.

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1. Vocabulary EX2 2. Books closed, write 3 tips for an ideal interview 3. Books open, read the text and check your ideas. 4. How many tips does the text give?

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

What language does the text use for giving tips? Underline them. Are they good tips? Score them from 1 to 10.

Clarification (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1. T-led explanation-Say that we can give advice and make suggestions in many ways and put up modal aux., imperatives and it+adj+to V1 on Wb. Ask SS to put samples from the text on the board. 2. Put up "advice", "strong advice", "necessary", "not necessary", "not allowed" on WB and ask SS to match the meanings with the modals. WC feedback.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Reflection (1-3 minutes) • To check if the aims of the lesson have been met and if the SS enjoyed the lesson.

Ask students to close their books and notebooks. Ask what have we studied today. Ask if they enjoyed the lesson
