Description

In this lesson, students will review and practice using the indefinite pronouns: something, anything, nothing, and everything

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide review and practice of indefinite pronouns (something, anything, nothing, everything).

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of indefinite pronouns in the context of everyday situations.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T shares Jamboard with the Ss. Ss will make a copy. (1 minute) -T will place Ss in BORs to complete the Lead-in activity with classmates. (2 minutes) -Ss will then meet with the T in the main room and have the opportunity to share out their responses with the class in order to preview the lesson. (2 minutes) -Jamboard: Show a series of pictures with a sentence for each picture and a word bank. Have students engage with the activity in BORs first then discuss.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-T will share a Google Slides with the class. Ss will each make a copy. (1 minute). -Ss will be placed into BORs to read, listen, and complete an exposure questionnaire together. (6 minutes) -OCFB: Ss meet with T to review their responses and/or ask questions for review (Up to 3 minutes).

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-Ss will explore the MFP of the TL via Google Slides. T will share the slides. Ss will each make a copy. (1 minute) - Ss will discover the MFP by working through the Google Slides in BORs. (6 minutes) -OCFB: T will elicit a response from Ss and Ss will share responses. (Up to 3 minutes)

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-Ss will receive a Google Form with the questions relating to the TL. Students will read and complete the Google Form in BORs (5 minutes) -T will then conduct OCFB and have the students share their responses and give students the correct responses. (Up to 3 minutes)

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-T will send Ss a Google Form in which students will work through examples of using the TL correctly in sentences. (1 minute) -Ss will have up to 5 minutes to work with partners or in small groups to complete the task. Ss can generate ideas for the writing with each other and discuss the indefinite pronouns. (5 minutes) -Ss will then meet with T for OCFB and discuss their responses with the T and also conduct DEC. (4 minutes)
