Description

In this lesson Ss will learn about verb phrases. They will practice the vocabulary by means of their productive skills of speaking through controlled and free practices.

Main Aims

To provide clarification and practice of verb phrases in the context of the British Culture

Subsidiary Aims

To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of daily life

Procedure (34-46 minutes)

warmer /lead in (3-5 minutes) • To warm up Ss and Lead into the lesson by exposing the target language

-T writes on the board WHAT IS TYPICALLY BRITISH? -T elicit ideas from Ss (black taxis, tea time, red busses, left sided traffic)

(5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meanings of the vocabulary

-T delicit the meaning of verb phrases and time expressions -T models and drills the pronunciations of phrases

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To expose the target language

-T delivers survey HO -Ss look at the survey and try to predict the percentages -T plays the audio interview Ss -Ss listen ands check -T provides FB

Matching exercise (10-12 minutes) • To practice the target language

-T Delivers Matching exercise on p.146 -Ss match the verbs with words -Ss check their answers in pairs -T provides Fb

Freed Practice 1 (5-7 minutes) • To practice the target language

-T asks students to write five positive and five negative sentences about theirselves -Students check each others sentences. -T provides FB.

Speaking practice (3-5 minutes) • To pactise the target language by means of speaking

-T gives Verbs and phrases to Ss randomly - Talk about theirselves using verbs -T porvides FB
