Description

This lesson will focus on a review of clothes vocabulary and present continous. ın this lesson students will be able to practice in speaking for fluency. The lesson starts with creating a mind map of clothes in different seasons. This is followed by describing people's clothes by looking at a picture. Then students will find the differences in the given handout. The students will do group work. Then students will do crossword puzzle and check thir answers with their friend.Finally we will name the clothes with given clues.

Main Aims

  • Students will be able to decribe the clothes that people are wearing.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a in pairs in the context of clothes.

Procedure

Warmer / Lead in (5-7 minutes) • To provide Ss with clarification, review and practice of vocabulary clothes in the context of what we wear on particular situations.

Teacher draws a circle on the board and writes Clothes in a big circle and then T asks the students what type of clothes vocabulary they know? Students give their answers and T makes notes on the board. Then teacher writes footwear on the board and asks what do they wear on their foot? Students give their answers and T makes notes on the board. Then teacher writes accessories on the board and writes the students answers on the board. Finally teacher writes jewellery on the board and gets students answers and writes them on the board. Then teacher asks them what are they wearing today? Teacher nominates some of the students to share their answers with whole class.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide students clarification of vocabulary of clothes through fashcards.

Teacher shows and asks students what they see in each picture. Teacher shows pictures of clothes, jewellery, footwear or accessories. Students report their knowledge by giving answers to the whole class. Teacher repeats the words by using voicemeter tecnique.

Highlighting (5-7 minutes) • To expose Ss to the TL in context through describing the target language.

Teacher gives clear instructions for the activity to the whole class. Then teacher gives handouts to the students. Teacher asks students to describe the people's clothes in pairs. Teacher points of what kind of clothes do they wear? Smart or casual. Teacher monitors and provides assistance if necessary.

Feedback (3-5 minutes) • To enable students to see to what extent they have understood the task.

Students report back their answers with whole class.

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To focus on students on the meaning,form and pronunciaiton of the TL.

Teacher asks the meaning of wear, carry and dress. I wear clothes, jewellery, glasses etc. He / She's wearing a hat. He / She's wearing boots. She's carrying a bag. The Italians dress very well. Teacher gives clear instructions to the students and asks students to find the differences between two pictures in pairs. Students encourage to make sentences by using wear/carry/hold etc. Students encourage to make sentences with present cont. In picture A she's wearing black shoes or In picture B she is wearing red shoes. etc Teacher monitors and provides assistance if necessary.

Feedback (3-5 minutes) • To enable students to see to what extent they have understood the task.

Students report back about their opinion as the whole class.

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To check students understanding of meaning -use workbook ex 1a.

Teacher gives clear instructions to the students . Students work together to complete the crossword puzzle.

Students report back about their answers to their pairs.

Semi Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To further consolidate the TL and allow for some production.

Teacher gives clear instructions to the students. Students work in groups. Teacher encourages students interact with eachother. Teacher encourages students to speak the target vocabulary and language. Teacher monitors and provides assistance if necessary.

Feedback (3-5 minutes) • To enable students to see to what extent they have understood the task.

Students report back their answers.
