Their main target of learning English is that some of them are looking for traveling abroad and even immigrating one day while others learn the language to have a high potential to get accepted in a multinational company. All of them started to learn English since primary school; nevertheless, they complained about obsolete methodologies which lack practicing certain skills such as speaking and listening.

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will be able to listen for specific information and details better in the context of radio and T.V

Subsidiary Aims

  • • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of radio and T.V programs.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I start by telling them about my morning with my dad and we were listening to the radio, but I prefer to watch T.V so I can watch my favorite shows. Then I ask them to discuss in pairs what they prefer and why.

Pre-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Introduce words such as a buzzer, injured, a broken-down car, to propose by showing pictures and CCQs.

While-Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Ex 4: Page 60 Instructions: I will ask the students to listen to a program and write down the program type. CCQ: so what are you listening to now? And what do you have to write? Feedback: Nominating.

WhileListening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Ss listen again to the same type by for this time I will ask them to answer short answers. ICQ: are you going to listen again? Will you give long or short answers? Feeback: O/C

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Ex1 Page60 (intermediate new cutting edge) Students ask me questions. Then they ask each other in groups. Feedback: Nominating, each student talk about someone he talked to.
