Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of will, won't, might in the context of an audio recording.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of will, won't, might in the context of controoled and freer practice.

Procedure

Stage # 1 Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show the class a picture and ask them to think about the question, "What worries you most of all about the environment? I will place Ss in breakout rooms for discussion and then come back for feedback.

Stage # 2 Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through an audio and listen for gist information.

I will show Ss a handout and instruct them to listen for the 6 ceck points about the handout. I will then play an audio and then put the Ss in break out rooms to check the boxes that apply. We will then come back to the open sessin and discuss the answers.

Stage # 3 Exposure (7-9 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through an audio listening for specific information.

I will play the audio again and ask the Ss to then answer the True/False questions in a break out room and then discuss in open feedback.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will go over the words will, won't, might, covering MFP.

Stage # 5 Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice with a quiz.

I will have the Ss taske a multiple choice quiz from info on the audio.

Stage # 6 Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will have Ss write 3 sentences using the words will, won't, might in freer practice.
