Main Aims

  • To introduce furniture & rooms vocabulary to Ss, in the context of travel and booking a place to stay at.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification on furniture & rooms' names, through practice.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will introduce the topic, by asking questions: -When was the last time you travelled? -How did you choose a place to stay at?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-T will introduce new vocabulary to Ss, by showing images & eliciting the vocabulary. -Ss will pay a quick matching game individually.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-In groups of 2, Ss will be given 5 minutes to read the two texts from SB page 38, in BORs. -To ask each other and answer the following Qs: >Which place would you like to stay in? >Why? -T will ask some groups for feedback

Highlighting (5-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

-Next Ss, will listen to the audio 4.1 (from speakout text) -Ss will write down the words -Ss will listen again & underline the stressed syllable. >What do they have in common?

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

-Ss will be paired to do the following activity: >SA: say a room >SB: say the furniture which is usually in that room. -Each S has to mention 3 rooms. -Each S will reply with 2 pieces of furniture.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T will demonstrate the activity, for the Ss to follow: -Let's imagine you are planning to travel -You search websites, to book a stay -Ask about the available rooms -The furniture provided -Ask about the view
