Procedure

Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- T shows Ss a picture from a movie talking about the weather. " What do you see here? Do you remember this scene? What do you think about the weather? What's the weather like? Was the presenter happy? What did he wear? Did he wear heavy clothes? Yes. Now! Tell your partner about the weather in your city today and what clothes do you normally wear? " 2- Ss work in pairs. 3- Open class discussion and feedback "OK, guys thanks so much. This group: tell me about your partner's weather in her/ his city. What does your partner wear in this type of weather?

Pre-teaching Vocabary (10 minutes) • To unblock difficult vocabulary for students.

What do you see here? presenter. What does he describe? weather Can we listen to the weather description on the radio? yes. Can we see the weather description on TV? yes. Can we read it in a newspaper or on the internet? yes. does the presenter describe the weather yesterday or the next days? no, next days. Very good. so we call this " weather forecast" " a description of what the weather will be like tomorrow or for the next few days, usually on TV or radio or printed in a newspaper. " There’s a good weather forecast for tomorrow." ................... what is the weather like here? does the wind move air quickly? can you breathe fresh air? so the wind is quite strong. we call this " breezy" ex: it was a bright and breezy day. ................... what is the weather like here? very hot. does the man feel hot? yes. so if the weather is too hot and wet, we can say " the weather is humid." ............... CCQs:- 1- hello everybody, the weather today in Cairo is going to be cloudy. does the presenter present here sports news?no he presents the weather forecast. 2- today, the weather is so beautiful. the air is so clean and the sky is blue. Now: Today is ... breezy. very good. 3- yesterday, I didn't go out because I felt so hot. the weather yesterday was .... humid. lovely.

#1 " listening for gist " (4 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist listening task.

1- T contributes Handout 1 and asks Ss to listen to the audio and choose the correct answer. " Now you will listen to the audio and choose the correct answer." 2- T puts Ss in pairs to discuss their answers. " Check your answers with your partner." 3- T Opens class discussion and feedback " OK. Number 1 will be …... "

#2 Listening for specific information (6 minutes) • To provide students with quite challenging specific information listening task.

1- T contributes Handout 2 and asks Ss to listen to the audio and check true or false. " Now! Listen to the audio and check true or false." 2- T puts Ss in pairs to discuss their answers. " Check your answers with your partner." 3- T Opens class discussion and feedback " OK. Number 1 will be …... "

#3 Listening for details (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

c- listening for details 1- T contributes Handout 3 and asks Ss to listen to the audio and complete the table. T clarify the activity by giving example and ICQs. " Now! You will listen to the audio and complete the table. Let me give you an example: the first one: Singapore if the weather cold..., the things I need maybe a jacket, an umbrella…etc. ICQs: so, will you write keywords or make full sentences? 2- T puts Ss in pairs to discuss their answers. " Check your answers with your partner." 3- T gives Ss key answers to assure their answers.

Follow up activity: Speaking and feedback (6-8 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

1- T contributes handout 4 and ask Ss. " In our last activity, you tell your partner: - What are the four seasons? What do you like about each season? - What special things can you do, see, or eat in each season? - Let's give you an example: The four seasons are spring, summer, winter, and fall. - I like spring because I can enjoy the weather outside and see beautiful flowers. I like summer because I can swim on the beach. I like fall because I can enjoy the cool breeze and see the blue sky. - In fall, I can fly a kite, and see the leaves change colors.
