Description

In this lesson Ss. will learn how to write a short email (75 words) inviting friends (in another country) to visit them. First they will look at a picture and find out what they will study tonight. Next, Using sticky notes in Google Jamboard Ss. will write what is the perfect time to visit their country and the best places to visit. Then, Ss. will read an email for gist to find the overall idea. Later T. will support Ss to find out the parts and their names of an email, Using Google Jamboard Ss. will drag boxes under the correct parts of an email. On the next stage, Ss. will write an email inviting a friend *in another country) to visit them, At the end Ss will use the checklist to check one of their classmates email (Peer check)

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T. portrays a picture of an email, and asks students what do they think they will learn today? T. shares a kink on Zoom’s Chat to Google Jambord where Ss. using sticky notes have to mention what is the perfect time of the year to visit their country, and the best places to visit. T. Conducts brief class feedback after reading what the Ss. have written.

Exposure (2-2 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Using Google Slides T. will portray an email, and Ss will read it for gist in order to find the overall idea of it.

Useful Language (10-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Using Google Slides T. display her own example of an email, then help Ss identify the different sections (parts) and their meanings. T. shares a link on ZoomZoom Chat to Google Jamboard Ss using Jamboard drag boxes under the correct part of an email. T. corrects with Ss in OCD/ Ss.identify if the language of the email is formal or informal.

Productive Task(s) (20-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T. shares a link on Zoom Private Chat to Google Documents. Ss. will write a short email (75 words) inviting friends (in another country) to visit them. (Google document) T. monitors while Ss are writing

Feedback and Error Correction (10-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T. will Provide Ss with a checklist so that they can read a peer´s email. (Google Jamboard) T. will send Ss to breakout rooms and they will give each other feedback after using the checklist.
