Description

In this 121 lesson, the S will practice speaking and revising vocabulary to consolidate what has been learned in the previous class and listening. It will start with a jumbled word (MONEY), followed by a short association vocabulary game to revise previously taught vocab and a communicative activity, and finished with a short writing activity. Then the S will listen to a song about money (Boys and Girls). After that, the S will have to read the questionnaire, answer the Qns and find out if he is a spender or a saver. The class will finish with listening practice.

Main Aims

  • To provide listening for the gist in the context of money
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in communicative activities in the context of Money
  • • To provide the review of the Grammar “Present Perfect 1(ever/never) talking about experience.

Subsidiary Aims

  • • To provide practice of the TL in the listening context.

Procedure

Lead in (5-5 minutes) • To activate Ss' existing knowledge of the topic of money and create interest in this theme

Lead-in (4-5 minutes) T asks the S to guess the jumbled word (MONEY) on the wb followed by an association game scoring the result.

Stage 1.Vocab Money (15-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice the TL, help the S with the vocabulary and develop fluency.

Answer the qns from the Questionnaire and do the Quiz “Money”.

Stage 2. Listening to the song (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice the TL

T. asks the S to listen to the song and complete the gaps with phrases A-G and elicits/teaches the MFP of these phrases if necessary. Then the S does the matching ex 1a and 1b. FB T. asks the S to listen and fill in the gaps. FB. Following up activity (personalization) T. asks the S the qns: What’s your attitude to the material world? What is important for you?

Stage 3. Reading and Speaking (20-25 minutes) • To practice oral fluency by asking and answering questions within the context of money

T. asks the S to read and answer the questions from the Questionnaire in the SB p. 15 and elicits the importance of giving the follow-up remarks more than the given variant in the SB. FB SB p. 104. Discuss it.

Stage 4. Listening “Are you a saver or a spender?” (10-10 minutes) • To provide practice of the TL in the listening context

1st Listening. T asks the S to listen and answer the qn if the speakers are savers or spenders. 2nd Listening. T asks the S to listen and give more details about six speakers. Pause after each speaker to get the FB.

Stage 5. Speaking (10-10 minutes) • To provide practice of the Grammar “Present Perfect 1(ever/never) talking about the experience

T asks the S to play the board Game making the qns and answering them. T. motivates the S to speak at least 1 minute on every qn. FB. Use the timeline to elicit the MFP of the TL.

Stage 6. Giving the HW (5-5 minutes) • To provide the S with the written record of the homework
