In this lesson,the students will expose to language function with pre-listening prediction,gist listening , scanning and post-listening roleplay in context of complaints.

Main Aims

  • In this lesson,the students will learn function language in context of complaints.e.g: I'll ask her to sort them out.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Listening for gist ,scanning,roleplay for speaking skills


Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To generate SS' interest in the topic and to set the context

T asks them some questions about mobile,its use ,its monthly bills ect.T involves them into discussion to get into the topic.

Exposure (5-6 minutes) • To provide context for the function through a situation.

At the board,T elicit things that people complain about in shops,airports and restaurants ect.Then he arranges an information centre demonstration in the class with the volunteer students.

Pre-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To read to understand the gist of the topic (to support understanding the main text)

T gives the Ss an advertisement and give them a speaking task .

Gist Listening (5-7 minutes) • To clarify them the functional language essential to the understanding of the text.

T give them listening activity to get the main idea of listening text and to let them understand the situation.

Listening Scan (5-7 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the function items

T give them another scanning task in while listening to do specific information

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning,form and pronunciation of the function

T gives them some function expressions to clarify from the listening material they just held with them.

Post-Listening (5-6 minutes) • To provide Ss with free practice of the functional language.

T asks the students to act out a conversation where someone makes a complaint. They do roleplay where you bought an expensive digital camera from a local shop to take on holidays.It did not work After your return,you go back to the shop to complain.
