guilty secrets

Description

In this lesson students will listen to some people who confess that they have done something wrong and have hide it from other people. at the the end they will be asked to talk about their guilty secrets.

Materials

Abc Power point slides

Main Aims

  • The aim here is to improve the students’ ability to listen for gist and specific information, and to understand referencing and key phrases.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide an opportunity for Ss to share their opinion about the guilty secrets and share their story.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T first elicits the meaning of 'guilty secrets' . T tells Ss about her guilty secret to contextualize the term. T shows Ss some photos related to the following listening track. Ss try to guess the guilty secrets in groups. T asks Ss to share some of them with the class.

Pre-Listening (8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T teaches some blocking words in the listening track.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (12 minutes) • To provide students with gist listening task.

T asks the Ss to read the statements and listen to the recording and find out why they are wrong. Ss share their answers with their partners.

While-Listening #2 (15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed and referring listening task.

T ask students to read the questions first and then listen to the recording . T checks the answers with the whole class. T shows Ss some phrases and asks Ss to say which story do they refer to.

Post-Listening (4 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
