Description

In this lesson, the students learn the lexis related to the topic "the Internet", completing the tasks and fluent speaking on this topic. The lesson starts with the vocabulary and the game related to it where the students should guess the meaning of the picture. It should help to build the rapport with them and to engage everyone in the topic. This is followed by two tasks: filling the gaps and answering the questions. Finally there is a discussion of the topic via a speaking activity and the recap.

Main Aims

Procedure

Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students in the class

To play a game with the students: to show them eight pictures and to ask them what actions on the Internet are shown on these pictures. It will help to build a rapport with them.

Vocabulary (5-5 minutes) • To be aware of words

To show the list of the eight expressions that were asked during the lead-in, to explain meaning, form and pronunciation of those phrases that are not clear.

Controlled practice (10-10 minutes) • To use and to revise the expressions related to the topic while completing the task

To ask the students to fill the gaps individually, using the correct expression from the list: Shop online, Share photos, Read/listen to news, Download films/music/apps, Check emails, Use social media, Chat online, Blog and tweet. To send the students to breakout rooms and to ask them to check the answers in pairs. To check the answers in group asking the students one by one.

Freer practice (20-20 minutes) • To discuss the questions related to the topic using the vocabulary

To send the students to breakout rooms and to ask them to answer the questions in pairs. Then to choose one question and to answer it in group.

Recap (5-5 minutes) • To repeat the main points of the class's explanations

To explain the mistakes that were made by the students including meaning, form, pronunciation and appropriacy.
