Main Aims

  • To provide gist, specific and detailed reading practice using a text about the psychometric test in the context of success

Subsidiary Aims

  • by the end of the session, Ss will be able to identify the new vocabulary in the context of success using the texts

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- T shows them a picture about work dreams. 2- T shows them another picture about success at work 3- T shows a success picture and put it on the board 4- T asks Ss " what does success mean to you? what is more/less important to you? " 6- Ss will discuss in pairs. 7- T gets the feedback

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1- T starts to teach the hard words as clarified in the language analysis 2- T uses situations as context 3- T elicits the meaning 4- T uses CCQS 5- T starts drilling 6- write on the board ( the words stress and form)

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

1- T sets the reading task (page 48-49) 2- T will ask Ss to skim the text to get the general idea 3- T give them 1 minute 4- T asks Ss to discuss in pairs 5- T gets the feedback 6- T tells them the answer if they didn't get it, (psychometric test). 7- T will ask Ss to read again in details to answer the questions in the text 8- Ss will work individually. 9- T will give them 5 minutes to answer 10- T will put the scores (page 140) on the board. (give the Ss example if they didn't understand) 11- Ask them to score themselves 12- T asks to count the scores and write it down.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

1- T will set the next text ( page 140 ) 2- Ss will read this time for specific information. 3- T will give Ss the text on page 140 and the words table on page 49 4- T will explain the task 4 on page 49 ( you will use the text (page140) to complete the table) 5- T will give the Ss time to answer 6- Ss will check the answers in pairs 6- T gives the answer key 7- 1 minute to check 8- T says ( Do you remember the number you counted it from the first text? page 48-49) 9- T says ( now, find your personality in the second text (page 140) according to this number) 10- T gives them time to read.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

1- Twill set speaking activity 3 ( page 48 ) 2- T gives the Ss the questions to discuss. 3- Ss will work in a group of 3 4- T monitors 5- when they finish, T gives the speaking feedback. 6- T ends the class by recapping the lesson
