In this lesson, Student will learn new functions to use it to book a flight

Abc matching handout
Abc conversation form

Main Aims

  • by the end of the session students will be able to use the new functions in the context of booking a flight

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide the student with listening for specific details practice in the same context

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- T will show a picture of a plane 2- T asks Ss ( if you were on this plane, which country you would choose to visit? and why? ) 3- T asks Ss to work in pairs 4- T gets the feedback.

Exposure (7-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

1- T sets the activity (2 pages 34 ) 2- T gives the Ss the handout ( gap-fill activity) T should inform the Ss that the activity sentences are not in order. 3- T plays the audio (module 3 record 10) 4- give them 1 min. to answer ( replay it if they need it) 5- T asks them to check the answers in pairs 6- T gives them the answer key ( for activity 2) 7- one extra minute to read it. 8- T sets the activity (3) ( same page ) 9- give them the handout then play the same audio 10- Ss check the answers in pairs 11- T gives the answer key 12- 1 minute to read the answer key

Highlighting (4-5 minutes) • to highlight the target language in the context.

1- T asks Ss (let us assume that you will book a flight tomorrow, what is the expressions you might use? ) 2- give them 1 minute to think 3- T asks Ss to open the answer key for activity 2. 4- T asks them to highlight the expressions or sentences they might use in this case. 5- give them 1 minute 6- T starts eliciting

Language Clarification (15 minutes) • to provide clarification of the meaning, form and pronunciation

1- T starts to elicit the expressions as per the last part 2- T adds the new functions as clarified in language analysis 3- T elicits the meaning from Ss 4- T explains the form 5- T drills and check the pronunciation 6- write them on the board

Practice (8-10 minutes) • to provide an opportunity for learners to you target language.

1- T sets the activity 4 (same page) 2- Ss will work individually 3-T asks Ss to check the answers in pairs 4- T gives the answer key 5- 1 minute to read it if there is time T will give them freer activity as follows: 6-T sets the activity (5b) 7- T divides Ss to (A) and (B) 8- T gives clear instructions as follows: - first, (A) will be the travel agent and the other Ss will book a flight with him using the form. - student B will do the same 9- give them the handouts 10- T monitors their speaking and making sure that they are practicing the target language

feedback (3-5 minutes) • to praise good use of target language to correct errors in target language use

1- T gives Ss his feedback on the last activity 2- T writes their mistakes on the board 3- T elicits the corrections from them 4- T ends the class and ask if there is any other questions.
