To practice reading by completing a questionnaire in the context of punctuality.
To check the SS' understanding to the prepositions of time.
Procedure (45 minutes)
The T. shows the SS some photos about the time and ask some questions to elicit the words of time. The T. uses the ECDW technique with the new words.
The T writes a saying on the board and elicits the meaning from the SS and compare between time sayings in TL and the SS' mother tongue.
The T elicits the key vocabulary in the questionnaire such as unpleasant, kill time, armed forces, attitude, deadline and ideal . The T. uses pictures, examples,etc to demonstrate the words.
The SS complete a questionnaire individually to know their attitude to time keeping. The T asks ICQs. Are you working in pairs? Then the SS compare with partners.
The teacher gives an example then in pairs, the SS write at least three activities that are a waste of time. Then the SS can share their experiences together.
The T checks the SS' background about the prepositions of time through asking CCQs. ------------- the morning, ---------------- the afternoon, ------------- the evening, ------------ night Can I use (in) with all of them? The SS underline the correct answer in pairs then check on the projector.
In pairs the SS discuss if the the information in ex.1 is true or false about them through asking ans answering questions. For example? What time of day do you work best? What do you do on new year's Eve? The T. can demonstrate on the board and give examples to clear the instructions.
