Main Aims

  • To provide review and practice of past simple, past perfect and past continuous

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about the person of great talent

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask my Ss to discuss about following questions. 'Who is the person in history that you admire the most?' 'Why do you think so? What did he/she do?' I will type these questions in the chat box. Then, I will make Break Out Rooms for Ss before OCFB.

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will use Google Slides, so Ss can read the text. I will ask Ss about a gist task below. 1. Who is the woman? Where did she go, and when? 2. What is her achievement? 3. What is the challenge she faced? Ss answer these questions individually. Ss compare answers in pairs in Break Out Rooms before OCFB. I will encourage Ss to answer in their own words rather than using the sentences in the text. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1U-8YMGMn2zneqGdFK4WafoiIvafHqySk0VU6YsotRS4/edit?usp=sharing
