Procedure

Warmer (2-4 minutes) • to wake students up

'How was your weekend? , How is your week so far? Did you have a good weekend?

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will stick or draw pictures of three smiley faces on the WB, one of them symbolizes love, the other one symbolizes like, the third one symbolizes hate. Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The students read a small text about the teacher or a famous person. They will have a quick look at it and find the sentences with like, love and hate and they underline these words and check their answers with their partners. READ AND FIND Find the activities and underline them. I love traveling (the word "traveling" is underlined) abroad and visiting famous places. I like swimming and watching new films on Netflix. I really love spending time with my friends. I hate working on Saturdays. Weekends are great because I really like sleeping late but I don’t like tidying my room.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T writes on the board: I like playing chess. T elicits the form. What's the first verb? Does it describe our feeling? What's the second verb?

Clarification (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

To clarify useful language for coming productive tasks "subject + like/likes/love/loves/hate/hates + verb + ing" WHEN DO YOU USE VERB ING? ( WHEN WE TALK ABOUT a hobby or activity and how we feel about it) Do we can use like, love, hate, and don’t mind to talk about how we feel about an activity. What do we want to put at the end of the second verb?

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T asks Ss to look at Exercise on the WB. It is a gap-filling activity in which Ss will have to fill in the gaps with the verbs given. They will have to write the verbs in -ing form. T asks Ss to work in pairs and then nominates different Ss to come to the board and write the verbs. Fill it in! Write the missing words in the sentences. Use the verbs on the right. a. Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ask Ss to write down 3 true sentences and 3 false sentences using love, like, don't like, and hate. Say your sentences to your partner and let him/her guess if it is true or false. Example: A: I love going to museums. B: I think that's true. or No, it's false. W/C feedback. Nominate Ss to tell about their partners.
