Description

In this lesson students lean about the sports and competition based on listening skills. The lesson starts with a discussion about car racing competition. This fallowed by video where student watch it and understand about board game and types of sports.

Main Aims

  • For students to practice listening for gist and specific information in the context of sports and competition.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To students to improve awareness of intonation- For SS to learn vocabulary items related to sports and competition.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher greets the students and provides them with the photo of car racing competition. ask them about it. teacher continuous the questions according to the level of class and context and also activate their background knowledge.

Pre-Listening (12-16 minutes) • To prepare students for instruction

Teacher asks students some questions about popular sports and types of sports. - to teach the needed vocabulary for the lesson(video) IBM- genius- trick- escape by definition of the words or synonym and also opposite of them. Teacher gives students 2 minutes to read the question then watch the video and answer the questions according to the book.

While-Listening (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

The teacher explains the most important vocabularies to the students.- to show pictures and ask them listen to the audio and number them. the teacher gives the students 3 minutes to read the passage and answer the questions according to the listening.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the listening questions and expand on what they've learned

The teacher will help the students to listen to the details. The teacher gives them some vocabulary and asks them to write some sentences about the sports and use them in the sentences. The teacher put the students in pairs of work to match sentences with each other.
