Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification in the context of mysteries of daily life

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher asks Ss to discuss the following 2 questions: - Do you often get hiccups? How do you usually cure them? - Have you ever sleepwalked? What happened? Students will be working in groups in breakout rooms to discuss these questions.

Pre-Reading/Listening (6-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Students will be given 5 challenging words to develop their MPF with an exercise on the Genially slides. They will be working individually and once they are done, teacher will check their answers and provide OCFB.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (8-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Teacher will play an audio to the class once and ask students to get the general idea of it. Students will be divided in pairs into breakout rooms to discuss their answers, choose the best title (Genially Slide 2) and write their guesses for the title in the Zoom chat box. Once they are done, teacher will ask a student to share their answers with the group and provide OCFB.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students will be asked to take a look to the questions on Genially slide 2, will hear the audio one more time and have to answer all the questions. Teacher will check with students if it is necessary to replay the audio. Students will be divided in pairs into breakout rooms to discuss their answers and write their answers in the Zoom chat box. Teacher will check the answers with students and provide them OCFB

Post-Reading/Listening (5-8 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Students will be working in breakout rooms and discuss the following questions on Genially slide 3: - Which information did you find the most interesting? Why?
