Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson the students will be able to know the differnece between present simple and continuous
  • To provide clarification of the difference between present simple and continuous

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of this lesson students will be able to speak about their daily routine and things they are doing at the moment

Procedure

Test #1 (5-8 minutes) • To check students' prior knowledge of the target language

- T asks the Ss to complete the sentences on p.90 using the verbs between the two practice in present simple or present continuous -T answers with the Ss sentences : no.1 : i usually ....(go) to work in an office. go no.4: Today, i .....(work) at home. 'm working -T asks the Ss ICQs if it's needed : 1-Are you going to complete with present simple only ?No 2-Are you going to answer alone or with your partner? alone -T asks the Ss to check their answers in pairs

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

-T listens to the Ss answers to check with them -T asks CCQs as : 1- i go to in an office -Did i work yesterday ?Yes -Am i working today? Yes -Will i work tomorrow? Yes -So,do i go to work everyday ?Yes 2- On Fridays , i work at home -Did i work at home last Friday? Yes -Am i working this Friday?Yes -Will i work next Friday? Yes -So do i work every Friday? Yes 3- I wear a smart suit and earnings -The same CCQs as no.1 4- I'm working at home -Do i work every day at home ?No -Am i working now? Yes (Today) 5- So i'm wearing very casual clothes -The same CCQs for no.4 6- I'm not wearing any jewellery today - Do i wear jewellery everyday ? No - Am i wearing them now? No 7- people usually wear casual clothes -The same CCQs as no.1 8- They normally wear jeans -The same CCQs as no.1 9- The teacher doesn't wear a suit -Does he wear a suit everyday? No 10- My sisters wears shorts and a T-shirt -The same CCQs as no.1 -T asks the Ss how to write any sentence in present simple , then present continuous to elicit the form from them present simple: Subject : (I,we,you,they) + verb inf (he,she,it) +verb (s,es,ies) Negative form: subject +don't /doesn't+v.inf present continuous : subject +verb be +v.ing Negative form: subject +verb be +not+v.ing

Test #2 (5-8 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

-Ss do the exercise (on p.157 practice 1 /1) to choose the suitable answer with the right tense (present simple or present continuous) -T asks the Ss to check their answers in pairs -Ss share their answers with the T

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-T asks one of the Ss to read the first question from the PPT" How often do you watch TV?" , then the T answers ; "i often watch TV three times a week with my family" and asks the S the same questions and with whom? -T asks ICQs : 1-Did we answer the same question or different questions ? the same 2-Did I say short answer or full sentence? Full sentence 3-Can you ask other questions as with whom or how or what? Yes -T divide the class in pairs and give them the sheet with the questions
