In this lesson, students will practice receptive skills by learning how to talk about their childhood memories.

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using an audio about childhood memory.

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of childhood memories

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- T starts to tell a story about his/her childhood 2- T asks Ss to share their own story with a partner. 3- T get feedback by asking (if it is smth interesting about their partner story?) 4-T shows pictures (1a) to Ss 5- T asks Ss what they can see happening 6-T elicit from the Ss.

Pre-Reading/Listening (12-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1- T gives the Ss the words box (1b) 2-T asks Ss to use their dictionary to check the hard words 3- Ss will match with the suitable pictures. 4- Ss work in pairs to check the answer. 5- T starts to teach difficult vocabulary 6- T uses CCQs ( as clarified in language analysis sheet) 7- T drills

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

listening for gist 1- T tell the Ss the activity (2) 2- play the audio 3- feedback listening for specific information 4- T give the Ss the handout (3a) 5- T ask the Ss to read the question first (1 minute) 6-T play the audio 7- T asks the Ss to check the answers in pairs 8- T sets (3b) activity and gives Ss 1 minute to read 9-T play the audio again 10- Ss check the answers in pairs 11- give the Ss the answer key. 12- allow 1 extra minute to check the answers individually.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

1- T will put the topics on the board (4a) 2- T asks Ss to choose one to talk about 3- give Ss 1 minute to think 4- Ss work in group of 3. (4b) 5- If they finished T ask them to choose another topic and re-set the activity. 6- feedback
