Description

In this lesson, students will learn about fundamentals of Present simple negative with yes/no questions. They will be given open class practices on TL by cross questioning techniques. They will taste the basic foundations of grammar (present negative) with visuals/music as a platform.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide review and practice of Present negative in the context of talking about personal routine.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of present negative (yes/no) questions.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead in (4-5 minutes) • To set the lesson context and engage students

T commences the class with an activity named "Count the F's". In this activity, students will read a text displayed in the WB for 60 seconds and will be asked to count the number of letter F in the sentence. WC activity. T: "So lets start our class with a game called "Count the F's". "You need to count the number of letter F in a sentence ok" " For example: My father is a farmer" " Can anyone tell me the number of F's here" "yes, there are two F's in the sentence" " So lets start"

Presentation (13-15 minutes) • To exemplify the concepts of Present Simple negative by adducing reasonable examples and forms.

T proposed the topic of present simple negative with a slide show presentation describing various verb forms. T: "So yes lets see What's the structure of present simple negative" "Explains........" "I/We/You/They don't visit the moon" "It snows in the winter- Positive" "It doesn't snow in the winter-Negative" "Now lets practice using the sentences as you can see" WC Activity

Practice Session#1 (Controlled Practice) (4-5 minutes) • To boost up confidence among learners in filling simple questions about "do/does"

T will distribute handouts and ask students to fill in the gaps. T will demonstrate an example for clarification of students. T: "As you can see here, there are few blanks with an example given" "What you need to do is build up questions from the words given" "For example: My brother Mark goes to primary school (he-get up early?) "So what's the answer" "Does he get up early" " Now similarly do the rest" PW activity.

Practice Session#2 (Semi-controlled practice) (4-5 minutes) • To provide an extensive practice in the TL to make students clarify with the verb forms

T distribute handouts where Ss need to find the error in the sentence and write it down in the blank given. T: "So yes now you need to find the error in the sentence and write the correct word in the space given ok" "Lets see for example:" "Do your sister plays tennis?" "Its a wrong sentence right?" "Does your sister play tennis?" "Yeah that's the right one" "So work in pairs and you have 2 minutes to fill it up"" PW activity

Practice Session#3 (Freer Practice) (5-6 minutes) • To get a final touch on the concepts of Present simple negative with building up of sentence structure.

T circulates handouts to Ss where they need to construct a sentence with negative as well as positive form. T: "So here you need to write the negative form and also the positive one ok" "For example" "Mel Gibson comes from Britain (Australia) "Mel Gibson doesn't come from Britain. He comes from Australia" "In the same way you need to do" "Work in pairs" T distributes HOs. "The first one: "The Earth moves around the sun 150 thousand kilometres away from it (million) "The Earth doesn't move around the Sun 150 thousand kilometres away from it. "It moves round the sun 150 million kilometres away from it" PW activity.

Review Activity (7-8 minutes) • To introduce concepts of Present negative using visual aids (Videos)

T plays a video and ask students to answer few questions that comes in between the video.
