Description

In this lesson students learn about present perfect through presentation practice production in an online class in skype application . The lesson starts with a picture description activity . Afterward students are going to practice a conversation . As a task to focus their attention on the target language and follow the M/P/F order in my grammar lesson i provide a word file for them and i'm going to present the grammar through the word file . After that i will share 2 clips with them and they have to watch them ASAP in order to understand the grammar better . Then i will share 2 links with them the links contain some practices for present perfect . Eventually there is some freer practice via a final speaking activity.

Procedure

Lead_in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

This is a lead in activity to activate the class at the start of the session and engage Ss attention in the topic of the lesson which is "present perfect grammar" . The class will start with a picture description activity . There is a picture on page 4 on their book which is related to present perfect. I'm going to share the book with them . There are 3 people in the picture and Ss should guess what are they speaking about .

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation .

At this stage Ss will be more familiar with the grammar through a conversation . There is a conversation on the book based on the picture that they have described it at last stage . Initially they have 1 minute to read the conversation individually and then they are going to explain what ever they undrestand from the conversation. Afterward 3 students are going to read the conversation in class.

Highlighting (5-10 minutes) • To draw student's attention to the target language

As a task to focus their attention on the target language and follow the M/P/F order in my grammar lesson i'm going to share a word file with them and i'm going to present the meaning of the present perfect through the word file . Initialy i want to explain different time we use the present perfect through some examples . Afterward i want to familiarize them with some terminology that we use in the present perfect . I provide some CCQs for them and i'm going to ask them some questions in order to clarify the meaning of the grammar . CCQ: Do we use the present perfect for present or past ? Do we use already in negative statements ? When do we use for and sience ?

Clarification (5-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning form and pronunciation of the target language

As a task to focus their attention on the form and pronunciation of the target language at first i'm going to expain the past participle of the verbs for them . Then i'm going to share 4 examples with them and they have to guess the structure of the present perfect based on the examples . Afterward i want to share 2 clips with them and they have to watch the clips ASAP and take some notes in order to understant the grammar better .

Controlled practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice .

At this stage Ss are going to exercise the grammar through a controlled practice activity . There are some sentences with blank and picture in the word file and they are going to fill the blanks based on pictures . Afterward i want to share 2 links with them . The links contain some practices for present perfect and they have to do the exercises individually in 8 minute and then they have to check the correct answer and report me .

Free practice (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language.

Eventually the class will be finished by a freer practice activity . There are several time we use the present perfect and stydents are going to make examples for each time that we use the present perfect .
