To provide gist and scan reading practice using a text about meeting places around the word in the context of family&friendship
To provide clarification and practice of activity lexis in the context of friends
Procedure (30-45 minutes)
T-S Stick a big girl picture on the board. Ask them who she is. Where she is from. Write some words on the board just to focus on what to ask; (from?, married? childeren? work together? ) Elicit different answers and write them around the girl. Explain that She is your best friend. PW: let them talk about their favourite friends focusing on the words on the board.
WB: -use picture again to ask where we go at the weekend. -Elicit the answers; home, park, mall, market, square and write them around the stickmen. -Write the phrases on the board(at the mall, at the park, in the square, at the market, at home) (be aware of the differences Mall- shopping centre) -Drilling Repeat the pharses couple of times first individually second Choral.
Chest HO1 (pg 34) Give the students reading text. Let them read silently and decide which one is at the mall, at home or at the park... Feedback: The answers will be below the page so be sure that students don't open the folded part of the page. ICQ: Do not open! Do not what? Individual feedback: They open the folded part and check their answers.
WB -Write "I don't like video games and "I like going to the park" Ask them what they like or don't like PW: discuss in pairs Chest HO2 PW- Give 4 sentences. Choose and put the sentences to correct missing part in the paragraphs. ICQ: Read and.... Feedback: write the numbers on the board. Give 4 boardmarkes to them. They come to board and write 1d 2c 3a 4b
Chest HO3 -Stand at the power position. -clarify the meaning of the verbs that you show. -Stick them on the board. Chest HO4 PW Instruction: Choose and write. They will choose the words from the board and write in the empty places. Feedback: Check in pairs WC feedback: Write 1 2 3 4 5 6 on the board they will come and write the words to the correct number. -Give students half paper they use those verbs in different sentences and tell about what they do with their friends. If time permits they can use all the verbs but if time isn't enough limit them with 3 or 4 words only. Feedback: check in pair if time needed- they wrote and checked in pairs and later they can read what they wrote about their friends loud. (individually)
