Description

In this lesson students will learn how to write an About me section for their online blog though guided discovery based on the reading of the similar blog. The lesson starts with a lead-in, where students will try to come up with the theme of the lesson. This is followed by the activities that will help students to check and correct their writing tasks. Finally, there is some free practise via a writing of their own blogs.

Main Aims

  • To provide process writing practice of a blog in the context of about themselves

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clear understanding of the type of mistakes students can make.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will look at some photos of an Instagram blogger. They will try to answer some questions that will help them to understand the theme of the lesson.

Exposure (15-30 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

The students will read the text. They will try to understand the type of writing. Then, they will learn about the parts of a typical blog. Finally, they will correct the mistakes in Karolina's blog.

Checkng your writing (15-20 minutes) • To show the students how to monitor and check their writing.

The students will learn about the different types of mistakes. They will try to correct some mistakes and write the type of the mistake.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

The students will write their own blogs. They will include information about their name, age, birthplace, place of studies, their like/dislikes, personalities.

Feedback (5-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production

We will discuss the results of our work and talk about the homework. The students will check each other works and send them to me afterwards for the final check.
