Adverbs if frequency

Description

In this lesson, Ss learn about the the frequency adverbs which we use commonly in our daily lives in TL, such as always, never, usually, often and sometimes. They learn the meaning, form and how to use them in the sentences. The lesson is followed by a reading about different food habits in different cultures.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of the meaning, form and pronounciation of frequency adverbs by doing exercises of them both individually and in sentence forms.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide making and reading the sentences focus on frequency adverbs and Ss practice their pronounciation of these adverbs by both listening to and speaking of them.
  • Ss will practice the pronunciation of the letter h

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

To make an introduction to the class's topic by asking Ss some questions about the title of the topic and talk about it.

Exposure to TL (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

As the students are more likely to have heard the words, I am going to test them first to engage them to do the activity Ask the students to do the vocabulary bank in the book which is review of the last session Tl and also an exposure to this session Tl

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Show Ss a picture containing frequency adverbs with their percentages (from never 0% to always 100%) and discuss the meaning and their usage it with them.

Clarification #2 (8-10 minutes)

Ask the students the read the short text in the book and do the exercises given, through that they will learn about the position of frequency adverbs in the sentence.

Controlled Practice (6-10 minutes)

Ss do the part d of grammar in the book and make true sentences about themselves with given verb phrases and expression and adverbs of frequency

Extra Game (6-8 minutes) • Further practice of meaning and form

Two Ss will be chosen and do a questionary quiz. The Student who gains the most point, wins.

Integrating Reading about food habits in different countries (15-20 minutes) • To draw students' attention to detail

(The Ss has been asked to check the new vocabularies and read the text at home.) Read the text in the class, Ask the students about the meaning of new vocabularies in the text and do the exercises in the book Ask the students to prepare a lecture about another country’s food habits using adverbs of frequency, new vocabularies, and prepositions of time and place, for the next session
